Posdoctoral position at the Small Biosystems lab
The Small Biosystems Lab from the University of Barcelona is offering
a posdoctoral position to do research in the framework of
the Ciber-bbn network for
Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine.
The position is to carry out research in single molecule experiments
using optical tweezers in some of the current collaborative projects
in the network including, single DNA and RNA manipulation, peptide-DNA
interactions and mechanical properties of cells. The candidate will
carry his/her individual research project and help the PI to manage
other projects in the lab. The candidate should have a PhD in
experimental sciences, preferently biology, chemistry or
physics. He/she should have the skills and experience in molecular
synthesis of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and proteins to be able to
synthesize the molecular constructs to pull them with the
tweezers. Most important, the candidate should be a very independent
and hard working person, highly motivated and ambitious aiming to
develop a solid scientific career in a very interdisciplinary research
environment.
The contract will start the 1st January 2011 and will be
for one year with the possibility of an extension for at least one
more year. The gross salary is around 30000 Euros per year and negotiable.
